Slakah the Beatchild + Ayah
Jul 21 2009 - 14:47

Hello loyal viewers; the next two Transit Tapes are in the final audio mix / colour correct stage and should be available here soon. For now you can get a 'sneak peak' of Slakah's "When the World Falls Apart" performance on our Youtube Channel. We're still working out the final titles, colour and audio mix, but the performance is fantastic. Slakah has a real cool charm about him, and his easy guitar style and mellow vocals make for a compelling show. Ayah backs him up (and her performance of her single "Do It All Again" will also be available within the next week or so) on this song, and the two of them overcome what was a loud and very bumpy ride. We had the old "PCC" streetcar for this shoot, and while it made for great 'curb appeal', it really tested our performers ability to cope with the screeching and clanking of the vintage machine. (Incidentally, Gentleman Reg also performed on the PCC car earlier that same day: check out his performances of You Can't Get it Back and To Some It Comes Easy).

We're hopefully set to start shooting more performances in September, so keep checking in. And if you're in a band and you think you'd want to perform for Transit, send us a note through the Contact page. -- cb

Sunparlour Players + Revival Dear
Jul 6 2009 - 15:06

Just finished our fifth shoot yesterday (July 5th) with Sunparlour Players and Revival Dear. Another gorgeous day; cool breeze, warm sunshine. The two bands were amazing. Eddie and Shelley from Revival Dear treated us to a couple foot-stomping rockers; the two of them have such a great performance chemistry that it's hard to keep the smile off your face when you see them play.

Sunparlour Players, along with a 9-person choir, and friends and family were the perfect 'final' band of our first season. It was probably one of the most uplifting and compelling performances we've had on Transit to date and we can't wait to see the videos live. Hopefully we'll have them up by early August.

In the meantime, you can look forward to performances by The Junction, Lucie Idlout, Ayah and Slakah the Beatchild over the next couple of weeks. Subscribe to our Twitter feed to get all the latest news.

And a special thanks to Lesley Soldat for letting us post a digital version of her wonderful "Streetcars" painting.

A Little Bit of Love
Jun 9 2009 - 14:56

Even though we're brand new (and in fact, haven't even really formally launched our programming) we've attracted some attention from a couple media outlets. Usually, we're a pretty modest bunch here at TRANSIT, but as we've progressed through a few performances i think we're all realizing just how special this series is, and can be. So forgive us for blowing our horn a little:

Transit Launches
Jun 9 2009 - 14:55

Welcome to The Transit Tapes official website. We're working out the kinks as we go and any feedback or suggestions are welcome (though direct action is not guaranteed). Just use our "Contact" form for comments, questions, requests or whatever; easy peasey, non?

So far, we've finished off performances for four bands, including our two "pilot" performances from Spiral Beach and The Priddle Concern. We've actually filmed ten bands total as of this writing (June 23rd, 2009) and were in post-production right now to pull them together for release. Please do subscribe to our Twitter feed to get updates when new content has gone live.

In the meantime, enjoy our modest offerings; we're proud of our little series here at TRANSIT and we have high hopes moving forward. Personally I'd like to acknowledge just how amazing, friendly and talented the bands have been on each shoot we've had so far. It still amazes me that anyone even turns up.

Stay tuned! Much more news to come. - cb
